Remedial Massage & Trigger Point Therapy

Remedial massage is an effective way to relieve pain and tension throughout the whole body. The manipulation of soft tissue relaxes the muscle, improves joint mobility and enhances range of motion. The techniques used depend on the location, severity and the type of pain.

Trigger Points are hyperirritable spots in the muscle fascia caused by postural strain and repetitive use. They may be initiated or perpetuated by many physical, chemical, or psychological stresses. Trigger points can "trigger" local and also referred pain when pressed or when active they cause pain without any pressure. To diffuse Trigger Points direct pressure is applied to the area. Releasing these Trigger Points calms the nerves and elimination of discomfort results. Trigger Point Massage is 'not relaxing'.

Hunching over a computer is one reason people have neck and back pain at some point in their lives as well as headaches and shoulder pain. Muscle and joint problems can be caused and or made worse by poor work-station (desk) design, bad posture and sitting for long periods of time.

Weather you are doing lot's of physical exercise, preparing for a sports event, or sitting at your computer all day 'Remedial Massage' in combination with 'Trigger Point Therapy' is an effective way to eliminate pain and discomfort as well as speeding up recovery time.

How often do I need to receive treatments?

When treating an injury or muscular problem the number and frequency of treatments required will vary accordingly to each individual condition.

As a general guideline 2 or 3 treatments will usually relieve the worst of your discomfort. Fortnightly treatments are then recommended until there is no discomfort from one treatment to the next. Once the treatment is stabilised a monthly maintenance massage is recommended.

Massage in general is always a positive for wellbeing so it can be enjoyed monthly or more frequently if you wish!
